Farmers protest effect: Vegetable price increases in Delhi, people have been asked to avoid some routes
New Delhi: Farmers’ protest against the Centre’s farm laws in Delhi is now creating trouble for the local people and other businesses. Price of vegetables in the national capital noticeably increased due to the transportation blockage caused by farmers.
Prices of some vegetables and fruits are still normal because truckers sought alternate routes but truckers are also facing troubles in vegetable supply and it affects truckers’ regular income. If the situation continues, prices of vegetables and fruits may rise further due to supply disruption.
The supply of vegetables and fruits to Delhi from other states have been impacted due to road blockages at the Singhu and Tikri border points of the national capital for the last few days. The Chilla border on the Noida link road has also been shut for traffic as farmers protest intensified on Wednesday, report says.
Delhi Police advised people to avoid the Noida link road for going to Noida and instead use NH-24. The Chilla border on Noida link road has been shut for traffic as the farmers’ protest spread near the Gautam Buddh Dwar.
On the other side of Delhi, the Tikri border, Jharoda Border, Jhatikra Border are also closed for traffic movement. Delhi Police has said Badusarai Border is open only for two-wheeler traffic.
For commuters looking to travel to Haryana, the available options are travelling through the borders of Dhansa, Daurala, Kapashera, Rajokri NH-8, Bijwasan/Bajghera, Palam Vihar and Dundahera borders.
Singhu border is also closed from both sides. Lampur, Auchandi and other small borders have also been closed for traffic movement.
Many people in Delhi are facing problems to reach office and farmers protest affecting them also. In Delhi – Many people are going out of the city for a job and thousands of people are entering Delhi daily. Haryana, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh share a land border with the national capital Delhi and these three states’ population is around 28 crore.
In addition vegetables – Many other products are regularly enter into Delhi for selling and due to farmers’ protest the prices of those articles also affected in the last few days. Local small businessmen are facing problems in regular trade and deal.
