SAARC Diary: Bangladesh-India ties “smoother, warmer than ever”: Obaidul Quader
NEW DELHI, Sep 14: Bangladesh road transport and bridges minister Obaidul Quader, who is also the General Secretary of the ruling Bangladesh Awami League, has said that his country was very happy over growing relations with India which were “smoother and warmer than at any time in the past.”
He said this at a virtual meeting held on Sunday between Bangladesh and India attended among others by the High Commissioner of India in Bangladesh Riva Ganguly Das and few other officials of the Ministry of Road Transport,
The virtual review meeting was held to discuss the progress of projects in Bangladesh being implemented and the progress on the concessional lines of credit (LoC) extended by India to the Government of Bangladesh.
Quader said both Bangladesh and India were time-tested friends and the friendly relations and connectivity between the two countries would help in solving the unresolved issues between them. He quoted the settlement of land boundary and maritime issues and enclaves as examples for resolving other issues.
He called upon the officials to give special importance to the implementation of projects being carried out under the LoC provided by India as these were connected to the friendly relations between the two countries.
