New Delhi: India on Tuesday test-fired a land attack version of the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile at Andaman and Nicobar Islands territory. The target of the missile was on another island there.
Amid rising tension on the Indo-China border – India is steadily increasing its deadliest weapons and developing strategies.
According to report – India tested the fire supersonic cruise missile BrahMos at 10 AM and Indian and Russian joint venture supersonic cruise missile had destroyed the target successfully.
The test was conducted by the Indian Army which has many regiments of the DRDO who work to develop Missile systems. The strike range of BrahMos missile has now been enhanced to over 400 km.
The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) had already test-fired at least 10 missiles in just the last 35 days including BrahMos.
BrahMos was test-fired from INS Chennai on October 18.
BrahMos Aerospace is a joint venture between the DRDO and Russia’s NPO Mashinostroyeniya and was established on February 12,1998. Its name is a combination of India’s Brahmaputra and Russia’s Moskva rivers.
The BrahMos is a medium-range supersonic cruise missile which can be launched from submarines, ships, aircraft or land. It is the world’s fastest supersonic cruise missile, as well as the fastest anti-ship cruise missile in operation.
BrahMos-II, a hypersonic version of the missile, is also currently under development.
At present – India is strong enough to counter China and Pakistan at same time and to counter any unexpected attack of enemies – India steadily developing its tunnel defence which could be a game changer for India in a war situation.
According to defence experts – In a very short time – India may deploy its more BrahMos missiles at the China and Pakistan border.
