Coronavirus: India reports 60,471 new cases, the lowest in 75 days
New Delhi: The Union Health Ministry of India on Tuesday reported 60,471 new COVID19 cases, which is the lowest after 75 days. More than 1.17 lakh people have been discharged on Monday and registered 2726 deaths in the last 24 hours.
The government of India reports a total of 2,95,70,881 cases and around 28,280,472 have been discharged so far. The overall death toll in the country stands at 3,77,031. The number of active cases is 9,13,378.
The central government trying to vaccinate maximum people before the third wave coming. According to the Ministry of Health and family welfare, around 25.90 crore people have been vaccinated so far.
The Ministry of Health in its official statement said that “Recovery rate increases to 95.64%, Weekly Positivity Rate drops to less than 5%, currently at 4.39%. Daily positivity rate at 3.45%, less than 5% for 8 consecutive days,”
Meanwhile, according to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 38,13,75,984 samples have been tested for COVID-19, up to June 14. Of these, 17,51,358 samples were tested on Monday, the ICMR said.
According to the Johns Hopkins University Centre, India is now the second worst-affected country in the world after the US, which has recorded over 3.34 crore cases of COVID-19. Brazil is a distant third with 1.74 crore cases.
