If Modi returns to power only Rahul Gandhi will be responsible : Arvind Kejriwal

Delhi’s Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday accused Congress President Rahul Gandhi for harming the entire opposition. He said, that if Prime Minister Narendra Modi gets back to power, only Rahul Gandhi will be responsible for it.

The AAP national convenor’s comment, during a wide-ranging interview to PTI, comes two days ahead of a three-cornered contest in Delhi, as talks for an alliance between the Congress and the AAP did not fructify.

“The Congress is harming the SP-BSP alliance in U.P., the Left in Kerala, the TMC in West Bengal, the TDP in Andhra and the AAP in Delhi… If Modi comes back to power, only Mr. Gandhi will be responsible for it,” Mr. Kejriwal said.

“It is appearing as if the Congress is fighting the polls against Opposition parties and not against the BJP. The Congress is acting as a spoilsport,” he observed.

Mr. Modi had “totally failed” in delivering anything in any of the key sectors and that was why he had been resorting to “fake nationalism,” he alleged. “Modiji’s nationalism is fake. It dangerous for the country. He is using the armed forces to get votes as he does not have any work to show.”

Manmohan a thousand times better than Modi’

Mr. Kejriwal, who along with Anna Hazare led a massive anti-graft agitation against UPA II between 2011 and 2013, said Manmohan Singh as Prime Minister “was a thousand times better than Modi”.

Mr. Kejriwal, however, did not rule out the possibility of a post poll alliance. “Our only aim is to stop Modi and Shah from coming back to power. We will support anyone other than the duo.”

The AAP would perform well in the national capital, he asserted. “A month back, I thought it will be a fierce fight. But the situation has changed dramatically in the last 10 days. I am witnessing a situation similar to the atmosphere when we got 67 seats in 2015. I will not be surprised if we get all seven seats,” he said.

The BJP was seeking votes in the name of Mr. Modi but the AAP was banking on its work in education, health and water supply and lower electricity tariff, he claimed.

“Modi-ji cannot say [that he] made schools, hospitals, brought down electricity tariff, ensured drinking water supply. He failed in every sector. He has not delivered anything,” Mr. Kejriwal said.
