Technology: Tel Aviv will be the first city where electric roads will charge Public Transport Buses

New Delhi: In the world of technology, Israel’s Tel Aviv city is going to construct electric roads which will charge the public transport buses.
The electric roads are part of a pilot program in which Tel Aviv-Yafo Municipality has collaborated with ElectReon company – which is developing a system that can charge electric vehicles while they are moving, and Dan Bus Company.
Electric roads will be constructed between Tel Aviv University Railway Station to Klatzkin Terminal in Ramat Aviv which is around 1.2 miles.
Deputy Mayor for Transportation at Tel Aviv-Yafo Municipality, Meital Lehavi said that “We have no doubt that, if the wide-scale experiment is successful, it will not only benefit the public, but also save resources, improve the operational efficiency of public transportation, and maybe even a new world-class method of electrification will emanate from Tel Aviv-Yafo,”
“Relying on direct charging of vehicles from the road itself will remove the need to establish charging stations or be operationally bound to terminals,” Meital Lehavi added.
On the climate change and pilot program in Tel Aviv – the city’s mayor Ron Huldai said that “Our strategic action plan to prepare for climate change has placed the fight against pollution at the top of the municipality’s environmental agenda,”
“If the pilot program is successful, we will evaluate —together with the Ministry of Transportation —its expansion to additional locations in the city,” Mayor Ron Huldai added.
According to official website “the project will enable specially equipped electric buses, capable of being charged directly from under-road electric infrastructure, to travel on the route,” This transportation charge will remain same, specially equipped electric buses will not require heavy batteries and gas station to charge.
