Defence: Now Indian BrahMos can hit targets at more than 400 kilometers range

New Delhi: Amid rising tension at LAC with China, India successfully fired the extended range BrahMos supersonic missile. Now the Indian BrahMos missile can hit targets at more than 400 kilometers range.

According to information, Missile was launched around 10.30 am On Wednesday from a mobile launcher at the Integrated Test Range (ITR) in Balasore district and the tests were carried out under PJ-10 project which is handled by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).

This was the second test firing of the supersonic missile. The airframe and booster of the missle are indigenous.

“Congratulate @DRDO_India on the successful test-firing of an extended range BrahMos supersonic cruise missile. The missile with an indigenous booster will further strengthen India’s defence capability,” Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik tweeted on the successful fire test.

As per the information, the range of BrahMos missile was 290 kilometers when it was built. However, as part of the capability enhancement, the missile’s range was extended to over 400 kilometres and as per some estimates, the supersonic cruise missile can hit targets at a range of upto 450 kms.

According to the Official website BrahMos is the first supersonic cruise missile known to be in service.

India inducted the first BrahMos for the armed forces in 2005 and first, it was deployed on Indian Navy ship INS Rajput. The Indian defence forces are already using BrahMos’s ship-based and land-based versions and Now India’s air version test-fired successfully.
