Rashtriya Raksha University announces the waiver of two scholarships to Bhutanese students.
NEW DELHI, Nov 28: The director general of the Gandhinagar (Gujarat) – based Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU) has accepted a special request of Ruchira Kamboj, the Indian Ambassador to Bhutan, to waive annual college fees and grant scholarship to two Bhutanese students, a statement by the Indian embassy in Bhutan said.
The scholarship for US$2500 per year are chosen based on an appointment by the Ambassador of India to Bhutan for Bhutanese students for Bachelor’s degree courses at the RRU.
The Rashtriya Raksha University (formerly Raksha Shakti University) recently been elevated to a National Importance Institution under the union ministry of home affairs by an Act of Parliament and has been given the status of Central University.
After seeking and earning merit endorsements from the Department of Adult and Higher Education, the Ministry of Education of the Royal Government of Bhutan, two Bhutanese students, were nominated for admission to the RRU undergraduate programmes.
One of the Students has been nominated for a three-year Defence and Strategic studies programme and the other for a four-year programme in Information Technology, and one of them has already commenced his classes online.
Meanwhile, the noted legal academician Vikram Desai spoke about the centrality of the Indian constitution and how it has evolved over the years in further strengthening the national security. “It is the responsibility of the 130 crore citizens of the nation to uphold the values enshrined in our Constitution for creating a peaceful and prosperous nation,” he said.
He was speaking at a function organised by the Directorate of Extension & Distance Learning and School of Law, Humanities and Social Sciences, of the RRU to mark the nation’s ‘Constitution Day’ on November 26.
