The ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 held in England commenced today with 48 matches taking place across some of cricket’s most iconic venues.
The opening match of the ICC World Cup 2019 between England and South Africa surprised one and all when Imran Tahir was given the new ball to bowl the first over of the tournament. That made him the first spinner in World Cup history to open proceedings.
Tahir had a great IPL outing this year winning the Purple Cap for taking 26 wickets for Chennai Super Kings. Former India pacer Madan Lal delivered the first-ever World Cup ball during the inaugural edition in 1975.
