Mumbai: Actor Kriti Sanon took to social media on Saturday to announce July 30 as the release date of her upcoming film, Mimi.
She shared the official poster on Instagram, saying the film will be released on Netflix and Jio Cinema platforms. “This July, the unexpected offer will change her LIFE! Deliver the Mimi Trailer in 3 days.”.
Netflix India also tweeted, “Mimi is coming to give you some good news with some twists, turns, and unexpected fun.”
The makers opted for an OTT release after the pandemic forced its postponement in 2020.
Directed by Laxman Utekar and produced by Dinesh Vijan in association with Jio Studios, Mimi is a light-hearted surrogacy drama based on a 2011 National Award-winning Marathi feature film Mala Aai Vhaaychy.
“Mimi is not preachy or serious. It is not like watching a surrogacy film that turns out to be a documentary. It is a very entertaining film, filled with humor, and a lot of ups and downs. There is a beautiful graph of the woman I am playing, Mimi, where she wants to be an actress,” Kriti told the media.
Sharing pictures from the shoot on Instagram in March 2020, Kriti had said “The most satisfying schedule ever with a super passionate and hardworking cast and crew.”
“It is such a lovely feeling when everyone just wants to put in their best effort to make a beautiful film! #Mimi this one is too close to my heart.”
On Thursday, she shared the official motion poster, showing the baffled actor in a sky-blue baby bump with the tagline, “Nothing like what you are expecting!”
Mimi marks a second collaboration of the Kriti Sanon-Pankaj Tripathi-Laxman Utekar trio after Luka Chuppi. It also features veteran actors Manoj Pahwa, Supriya Pathak, and Sai Tamhanekar.
Besides Mimi, Kriti Sanon also has films like Bachchan Pandey, Bhediya, and Adipurush in her kitty.
