SAARC Diary: Maldives Received First Shipment of Vaccine Purchased from SII
NEW DELHI, Mar 30: The Maldives Ministry of Foreign Affairs said it has received the first 1,00,000 doses of Covishield vaccine on Monday from the Serum Institute of India.
This is the first batch of vaccines delivered to the Maldives under the Vaccine Purchase Agreement signed on March 23 between the Maldives Ministry of Health, Serum Institute of India Private Limited and Serum Institute Life Sciences Private Limited for the purchase of 2,00,000 doses of Covishield vaccine. No date has been set for the remaining shipment of vaccines.
The Government of India had previously donated 2,00,000 doses of Covishield vaccine to the Maldives in January and February. Previously, Maldives had obtained 12,000 doses of Covishield vaccine through the COVAX facility.
