SAARC Diary: India – Nepal Sign MoU for School Construction

NEW DELHI, Apr 6: A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Embassy of India in Nepal, the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration (MoFAGA), and Triyuga Municipality, Gaighat, Udayapur for the construction of a new building for Shree Bal Mandir Secondary School, Triyuga Municipality in Udayapur district, with grant assistance from the Government of India.

The agreement was signed by the Embassy’s Head of Development Partnership and Reconstruction Wing, the Mayor of Triyuga Municipality, and the Under Secretary of MoFAGA.  According to the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu, the project will be implemented as a High Impact Community Development Project (HICDP) at a cost of NRs 42.95 million through the Nepal-Bharat Maitri Development Partnership programme.

The statement also said as close neighbours, India and Nepal have special relations of friendship and cooperation. Both countries have a long-standing, unwavering, unrivalled, and multifaceted development relationship. The signing of the MoU today reflects the Government of India’s continued commitment to complementing the Government of Nepal’s efforts to develop infrastructure in priority sectors.

Bangladesh:

International students have been invited to study at two prestigious Indian universities by the Indian High Commission in Dhaka.

 Undergraduate, Masters, and PhD programmes in Science and Engineering can take up studying at the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru. It also confirmed that there will be no application fee and that students will also obtain a scholarship/stipend for two of the three streams that have been offered.

 The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Gandhinagar, has announced South Asian Graduate Scholar Fellowships for students from premier engineering and educational institutions in Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, and Sri Lanka. These scholarships are in addition to the open scholarships offered by IIT Gandhinagar and the Government of India Scholarships for SAARC countries.
