3, July-2021, MUMBAI: Mandira Bedi, who lost her husband Raj Kaushal to cardiac arrest on June 30, received severe backlash as soon as the funeral rites went viral on social media.
The 49-year old filmmaker and producer’s funeral rites went viral on all social media platforms. While several people lauded Mandira for coming forward to carry her husband’s bier and performing his last rites, a large section of the viewers trolled her for taking over the so-called manly rituals.
However, Singer Sona Mohapatra came to the actor’s rescue on Twitter and wrote, “That some people are still commenting on Mandira Bedi’s dress code or choice to carry out her husband Raj Kushal’s last rites shouldn’t surprise us. Stupidity is more abundant than any other element in our world after all.”
Raj’s last rites were held at Shivaji Park crematorium, Dadar, where celebrities like Ronit Roy, Sameer Soni, Ashish Chowdhry, Dino Morea, Arshad Warsi, Neha Dhupia, Onir, Vicky Kaushal, and Hansal Mehta showed up to pay tribute.
Raj Kaushal and Mandira Bedi have 2 children, a son named Veer and a younger daughter, Tara.
