New Delhi: The second most coronavirus affected country, India reports less than 1000 deaths for the last nine days. On Sunday, India had reported 816 deaths by Covid-19. As per the data, 84% of the new deaths were reported from 10 States and maximum number of deaths (308 deaths) was recorded in Maharashtra.

The Union health ministry attributed the lesser number of Covid-19 deaths to enhanced medical infrastructure, standardised treatment protocol in hospitals across the country and increased testing to identify infected persons early, and isolate them.

In a statement, Health Ministry said, “Enhanced countrywide medical infrastructure, implementation of the Centre’s Standard Treatment Protocol by the States and Union Territories, and the total dedication and commitment of doctors, paramedics and frontline workers have led to a consistent slide in the number of daily fatalities and a persistent increase in the number of total recoveries,”

According to the official data, India reports 7.1 million coronavirus cases so far and more than 6.1 million infected people discharged. Around 860,000 coronavirus cases are active in the country.

India’s new recovery rate is 86.17% and the way Indians are beating coronavirus, India is at top position in the list of maximum recovered cases, the ministry claimed.

In a statement, the Health Ministry added that “The national recovery rate has further increased to 86.17%. With increasing recoveries, India has sustained its leading global position with the maximum recovered cases. Eighty per cent of the recovered cases in the last 24 hours are being reported from ten states, viz. Maharashtra, Karnataka, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, West Bengal, Delhi and Chhattisgarh. Maharashtra leads the tally of recovered cases with more than 26,000 new cases of recovery.”
