Foreign Minister of India to meet his Nepal Counterpart Pradeep Kumar Gyawali on Friday

New Delhi, 15 Jan: Foreign Minister of India S.Jaishankar will meet Nepal’s Foreign Minister Pradeep Kumar Gyawali face to face today and may discuss international issues.

Gyawali arrived in Delhi on Thursday late evening and he will co-chair the Joint Commission meeting of India-Nepal with Jaishankar on Friday.

The spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said that “The Joint Commission is an important mechanism that provides the opportunity of reviewing at a high level the entire gamut of our bilateral partnership and providing political guidance to further enhance the special and unique ties that we enjoy. We look forward to constructive discussions on the numerous sectors that encompass our bilateral agenda.”

MEA spokesperson also added that “talks on the boundary issue may discuss. Our position on the boundary issue is well known. Let me say that the JCM and boundary talks are separate mechanisms.”

Foreign secretary of India – Harsh Vardhan Shringla went to Kathmandu in November 2020 for the first high-level diplomatic visit and he met the country’s leaders, including Prime Minister Oli and Gyawali.

According to political experts, the distance between Nepal PM KP Sharma Oli and local people of Nepal has increased in the last few months. The Kathmandu government had tried to develop better relations with China in the last few months.
