DJS Antariksh, a Mumbai Based Team gets a podium finish worldwide
“Some people want it to happen, some wish it would happen, others make it happen” – Michael Jordan.
DJS Antariksh, a rover team from Dwarkadas J. Sanghvi College of Engineering, Mumbai has given this quote a true meaning by its incredible achievements at the International Planetary Aerial Systems Challenge (IPASC) 2021. Starting with merely 4 members and growing into a team of 30 space enthusiasts, the team has come a long way and bagged the 2nd Overall position Worldwide and the 1st position throughout Asia at the International Planetary Aerial Systems Challenge held in May 2021.
Mars Society South Asia’s International Planetary Aerial Systems (IPAS) Challenge 2021 was aimed to encourage students to design an astronaut-assistive Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV), which shall be fully equipped and mission ready for Operation on Mars. A total of 26 Teams from various countries actively participated in the competition. All the teams were required to submit an Engineering Design Report (EDR) which explained each mission and its technicalities in detail.
Team DJS Antariksh successfully designed “TRIYAAN” – an efficient unmanned aerial vehicle precisely built to perform three major tasks and assist astronauts by carrying out certain analyses of terrain while airborne on the Red Planet.
“It was an experience of a lifetime to be competing with such wonderful teams and talented individuals. We participated in the competition to learn, but to win something out of it was quite empowering for the team. We are looking forward to participating in many more challenges and to make the country proud”, Rutwik Bhangale, the Team Lead said in a conversation.
