New Delhi: With Joe Biden taking oath as the 46th US President on Wednesday, Chinese political experts are apprehensive that the new Commander-in-Chief of the American armed forces “may not give relaxation to China in trade and other relations.”

Official Chinese media outlet Global Times also said Beijing is in an alert mode and expected that the US will continue to comment on trade and other issues with China.

US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said that “the Biden Administration will take all necessary steps against China to protect the US economy. It will not tolerate any anti-US activities in trade or any sectors.”

“China is responsible for the low price of US companies and its products. It is taking advantage through subsidies, product dumping and creating trouble for US products.” Yellen added.

Trade relations between China and the US had disrupted during the presidency of Donald Trump.

Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said that “China is planning to give tough competition to the US in all sectors and trying to be a super power like the US. We Americans have to stand strong with trust to fail China, because China is already in race with America.”

Antony Blinken, former Deputy National Security Advisor, considers China as a threat to the US. China is consistently giving tough challenges to the US in all the sectors which are somewhere a red alarm for the Biden’s government, he added.

Biden’s pick for Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, said during his Senate confirmation hearing Tuesday that “President Trump was right in taking a tougher approach to China but disagreed with his methods. Trump had stressed that China posed the most significant challenge to the U.S.

Trump’s policies toward China, including launching a trade war that hit global growth and impacted businesses and industries all over the world, pushed the two countries’ relations to what many experts described as their lowest level since the Cold War. His administration also barred several Chinese companies from doing business in the US citing security risks.

The biggest wild card on the world stage will be Washington’s relationship with Beijing and the geopolitical issue is the main issue in the relationship between the US and China.

Biden also stressed his intention to hold China accountable for its role in the spread of the coronavirus.
