- On occasion of Panchayati Raj Day (24th April), Prime Minister Narendra Modi distributed E-Property Cards.
- Above cards are distributed under SVAMITVA scheme which was launched in 2020.
- SVAMITVA means Survey of Villages and Mapping with Improvised Technology in Village Areas.
- Approximately 4.09 lakh property cards were distributed.
- This scheme will provide integrated property validation platform for rural India.
- Under the scheme, the mapping is to be done using drone technology in a phase-wise manner between 2020 and 2024.
- The scheme is currently applicable only in the states of Karnataka, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh.
- Under this scheme beneficiary can use this card and take loan against asset.
- Additionally this scheme will help to create accurate land records.
- This will help in better rural planning and support the Gram Panchayat Development Plan.
- It will help solve property related disputes in rural areas.
