Reserve Bank of India to issue greenish – yellow Rs 20 denomination banknotes!

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Friday said that new Rs 20 denomination notes in the Mahatma Gandhi series will be issued shortly.  The note bears signature of RBI Governor, Shaktikant Das, the Rs. 20 note will be greenish – yellow in the colour.

“The Rs 20 note will be greenish-yellow in colour. The new banknote has a motif of Ellora Caves on the reverse, depicting the country’s cultural heritage,” a statement by the RBI said. Although, the banknotes in denomination of Rs 20 issued by RBI in earlier series will continue to be a legal tender, the statement clarified.

The statement added that the note has other designs, geometric patterns aligning with the overall colour scheme, both at the obverse and reverse. The dimension of the banknote will be 63 mm x 129 mm.
