Motera cricket stadium renamed after Narendra modi

Ahmedabad: World’s largest cricket stadium in Ahmedabad has been named after the Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This was announced by the union Home Minister Amit Shah at the inauguration of the stadium on Wednesday.

The stadium was inaugurated by President Ram Nath Kovind.

England and India will play the third and fourth test match and five T20s in Ahmedabad.

Ahead of the first day’s play, Ram Nath Kovind performed bhumi pujan of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Sports Enclave in Ahmedabad’s Motera. Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju and Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel were also present on the occasion.

At Narendra Modi stadium – Home Minister said that “since PM Modi’s days as the Gujarat Chief Minister, it was his vision to get the world’s largest cricket stadium built in Ahmedabad.”

“Apart from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Sports Enclave and Narendra Modi Stadium in Motera – sports complex will also be built in Nanpura to host international events which will make Ahmedabad the ‘sports city’ of the country,” Home Minister said.

Union Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju also expressed his views on the Motera and said “Not just for cricket but it’s a proud moment for India. Besides being the largest cricket stadium, it’s also one of the most modern stadiums in the world. Ahmedabad is turning out to be the ‘sports city’ of the country.”

The government is also planning to host the Olympics in Ahmedabad with perfect sports infrastructure and facilities. Home Minister Amit Shah said that “Combining the sports complex, enclave and stadium in Ahmedabad, India will be ready to host even the Olympics in just six months.”
