Ahmedabad, July 25: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar will visit Gujarat in September to attend the Ministry of External Affairs’ Annual Conference of Indian diplomats.

The meeting with be held at the tent city next to the Statue of Unity, the Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel statue inaugurated by Modi on October 31, 2018. At 182-metres, it is the tallest statue in the world, located on a small island in the River Narmada at Kevadia, near Vadodara.

Indian diplomats, ambassadors, high commissioners, consulate officers and others from the MEA will attend the conference, being held outside New Delhi for the first time ever. They will be apprised of the NDA Government’s policies and plans.

The annual conference, normally held in April-May, was deferred this year due to the ongoing Lok Sabha elections.

Earlier, a Union Home Ministry’s conference on the Directors-General of Police was held at Kevadia in Modi’s presence.
