Mumbai: The One-Day International (ODI) cricket series between India and Sri Lanka has been postponed until July 18 due to the pandemic.
The matches were scheduled to begin on Tuesday (July 13).
The Indian cricket team, which is currently on a Sri Lankan tour, will have to wait since that country’s batting coach Grant Flower tested positive ahead of the series. Sri Lankan cricketer Niroshan Dickwella is also suspected to have contracted the virus.
Keeping the players’ safety in mind, the organizers decided to keep the Sri Lankan cricket team in quarantine and changed the dates.
Led by Shikhar Dhawan, India will play a series of 3 ODIs and 3 T20 matches against Sri Lanka on July 18.
Confirming this, a senior BCCI official said, “The decision has been taken in consultation with the Sri Lankan cricket team.”
Sri Lanka recently returned home after playing a limited-over series in England.
