New Delhi: The Indian Medical Association (IMA) on Tuesday shared shocking data of the second wave of coronavirus in India. The IMA on Tuesday confirmed that 798 doctors in India died during the second wave of the covid-19 pandemic.

According to the statement given by the IMA, “128 doctors in Delhi lost their lives during the devastating second wave of the pandemic, followed by Bihar at 115 and Uttar Pradesh at 79.”

While the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic saw scores of citizens succumb to the pandemic, the monstrosity of the deadly virus also took away several lives that were protecting us.

Kerala and Maharashtra, states where the new and highly contagious Delta Plus variant of the Covid-19 virus is on the rise, reported the deaths of 24 and 23 deaths, respectively.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi Praised doctors during his ‘Mann Ki Baat’ radio program on Sunday.

IMA president Dr. JA Jayalal said that the PM has given assurance that doctors will be respected, protected, and safeguarded.

India will continue its tradition of celebrating National Doctors’ Day on July 1 to honor the contributions of the medical fraternity. The first National Doctors’ Day was celebrated in India in July 1991.
