NEW DELHI, Oct 3: The United States believe that the European countries will not go with China for 5G network and instead will act to prevent China from acquiring their citizens’ private data through its 5G networks.

The US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo after a meeting with Prime Minister of Croatia Andrej Plenkovic on Friday said he expected that the European countries would not go with China in 5G network. “I am confident that many more European countries now, frankly because of just sharing information with them, they are going to make their own sovereign decision that says no,” Pompeo was quoted as saying by Sputnik.

Pompeo criticised Xi Jinping and his Communist party stating, “We don’t want our citizens’ data in the hands of the Chinese Communist Party. I think every European country now understands this and is increasingly aware of it. And you’ll see them take actions consistent with that, including Croatia,”

On the US relations with Croatia, Pompeo tweeted, “Superb trip to beautiful Croatia. I am proud of our shared commitment to enhancing our security cooperation, and appreciate Croatia’s role in advancing European energy independence.”

Due to security concerns, The USA and many European countries like Czech Republic, Poland and Estonia have already signed declarations on 5G networks.

According to the US President – China is accountable for coronavirus spread across the world and during this period the US had announced sanctions on 5G communication giant Huawei, alleging corporate espionage and national security threats. China denied all the allegations of the US.

Canada’s Conservative party leader Erin O’Toole also announced that his government would ban Chinese telecommunications giant Huawei from the development of the country’s 5G network.
