Mumbai: Filmstar Ajay Devgn revealed on Tuesday evening the release date of his upcoming film, Bhuj- The Pride of India: August 13.
He took to Instagram to give a glimpse of the film by sharing a motion poster while announcing the release date.
Produced by Devgn, and directed by Abhishek Dudhaiya, the film will be released on Disney+Hotstar VIP on the eve of India’s Independence Day.
This film will mark Devgn’s first OTT release.
The story of Bhuj-The Pride of India is inspired by true events that took place during the Indo-Pakistan War of 1971, whose 50th anniversary falls this year.
Devgn plays the role of Squadron Leader Vijay Karnik of the Indian Air Force (IAF), who was then in charge of the Bhuj Airport in Gujarat at the time of the 1971 war. The poster showcases how Pakistan had launched the “Operation Genghis Khan” attacking the Bhuj airfield at least 35 times in 14 days, using 92 bombs and 22 rockets in 1971.
The IAF’s airbase was destroyed during the war. In a herculean task, Squadron Leader Vijay Karnik, with help from nearly 300 women from the nearby Madhapur village, restored it soon for the IAF aircraft to land.
In this historic film, Sanjay Dutt is essaying the role of Ranchhoddas Pagi, Amy Virk acts as Vikram Singh, Sonakshi Sinha as Sundarben Jetha, Nora Fatehi as Hira Rahman, and Sharad Kelkar as RK Nair, all in pivotal roles. Megastar Amitabh Bachchan and Rakulpreet Singh also star in the film
The official trailer of the film will be released on July 12.
