NEW DELHI, August 31: Even as the army officers’ level talks are on to resolve the border disputes, the Chinese troops again violated the Indian border in the Eastern Ladakh on the night of August 29/30, according to an official statement.
Colonel Aman Anand, the PR officer of the army, did not give any further details of the border clash except the cryptic statement that “the PLA troops violated the previous consensus arrived at during military and diplomatic engagements during the ongoing standoff in Eastern Ladakh and carried out provocative military movements to change the status quo.”
He said the Indian troops “pre-empted this PLA activity on the Southern Bank of Pangong Tso Lake, undertook measures to strengthen our positions and thwart Chinese intentions to unilaterally change facts on ground.”
The Indian Army, he said, was “committed to maintaining peace and tranquility through dialogue, but is also equally determined to protect its territorial integrity,” he said and added that a Brigade Commander level Flag Meeting was in progress at Chushul to resolve the issues.
