- UNCTAD declares Invest India as the winner of the Investment Promotion Award 2020

Geneva: Startup India, an initiative housed in Invest India, is delighted to share that the United Nations (UNCTAD) has declared Invest India as the winner of the Investment Promotion Award 2020. The award ceremony took place on 7th December from UNCTAD Headquarters in Geneva.
The COVID-19 pandemic led to several challenges for investment promotion agencies (IPAs) forcing them to shift focus from routine investment promotion and facilitation towards crisis management, notification of government emergency & economic relief measures, provision of crisis support services, and contribution to national COVID-19 business response efforts. In March 2020, UNCTAD constituted a team to monitor the response of IPAs to the pandemic and reported best practices which became the basis of the United Nations Investment Promotion Award 2020.
UNCTAD highlighted good practices followed by Invest India and Startup India such as the Business Immunity Platform, Facilitation of Startups, COVID-19 Innovation Solution Challenges, Community Engagement through Virtual Sessions, Exclusive Investment Forum webinar series, its social media engagement, and focused COVID response teams (such as business reconstruction, stakeholder outreach, and supplier outreach). Invest India has also shared long-term strategies and practices being followed for investment promotion, facilitation, and retention at UNCTAD’s high-level brainstorming sessions.
The award is a testimony to the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s vision of making India a preferred investment destination with focus on both Ease of Living and Ease of Doing Business. It also bears testimony to your hard work to bring out India strong through the pandemic.
