NEW DELHI, Nov 24: The tiny Pacific island nation of Samoa has reported a bizarre case of Coronavirus. A sailor, who flew in from New Zealand on November 13, tested positive on left nostril and negative in right nostril.

The sailor was the first positive case reported in Samoa which so far successfully avoided any Corona attack when the world was battling against the pandemic. The case of the sailor was reported by the Prime Minister Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegaoi himself at a press conference on Tuesday.

“The sailor on his left nostril tested positive and on his right one tested negative,” the prime minister said. The sailor was tested in both nostrils but strangely gave different results.

“Samoa will continue as normal with current restrictions imposed with faith in God,” Malielegaoi said. Test samples sent to New Zealand could not provide further clarity on the results, according to Radio NZ.

The sailor has reportedly been staying in a quarantine facility since arriving in Samoa.

Blood work samples from the patient are currently being looked at in New Zealand, with more results expected to be released next Monday, media reports said.

Samoa is home to about 200,000 people.
