India Send 15 Tonnes of Relief Materials to Flood-Hit People of Cambodia

NEW DELHI, Dec 31: Indian Naval Ship “INS Kiltan” reached the port of Sihanoukville to deliver 15 tonnes of flood relief materials comprising 3,000 flood-related relief kits for individuals affected by the floods in October indicating another chapter of close India-Cambodia relations.

The Indian Embassy in Cambodia tweeted, “Indian Naval Ship Kiltan arrived at Sihanoukville Port, Cambodia, as part of on-going Mission Sagar-III. The ship will deliver 15 Tons of Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) Stores for the flood-affected people of Cambodia”.

Mission Sagar- III,  undertaken in line with the Indian Prime Minister’s vision for Security and Growth for All in the Region (SAGAR) and a part of ‘Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief’ (HADR) to friendly foreign countries underlines the importance India attaches to its close maritime partner Cambodia.

In a ceremony held by the Government of India on 30 December, Commodore Sokhemera, on behalf of the Royal Cambodian Navy, warmly welcomed the arrival of the crew in INS Kiltan and thanked the Government of India for this humanitarian gesture of supporting the citizens of Cambodia.

During the occasion B. Subba Rao, Second Secretary (Political) & Head of Chancery, Embassy of India in Phnom Penh handed over flood relief materials to Hang Samoeun, Vice President of the National Committee for Disaster Management and Advisor to Hun Sen, Prime Minister of Cambodia.

Samoeun while receiving flood relief material on behalf of the Royal Government of Cambodia recalled the close ties between both the countries and expressed gratitude to India for its kind gesture to support the people affected by floods in Cambodia.

Following the event the Indian Embassy in Cambodia tweeted, “Accepting the donation on behalf of the GOV of Flag of Cambodia, H.E. Samoeun profoundly appreciated and thanked the GOI for offering flood relief material to help ease the living of flood affected people at this difficult time.”
